Praying to his own favourite deity Kalikamba for the speedy recovery of their superstar Rajinikanth, who is admitted in the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai for respiratory and gastro-intestinal problems, nearly 50 fans conducted the famous 'Mann Soru' ritual at the Kalikamba temple in Chandra Chudeswara hill temple premises in Hosur. The fans ate rice spread out on a bare floor as part of the pooja. "Kalikamba is the favourite God of superstar Rajnikanth and hence we organised the pooja in this temple for his speedy recovery," a fan who participated in the pooja said.
Meanwhile, hospital sources said that all the vital medical parameters of actor Rajinikanth are stable. Reportedly, the actor underwent a minor chest procedure on Monday and the doctors have removed the excess fluid that had accumulated in his lungs. He has been advised complete bed rest (including visitors restriction) to avoid inter-current infections.
The wave of anxiety that is radiating across the country over the health of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has not spared Mumbai either. Concern is palpable in areas like Matunga and Dharavi that are home to a sizeable population of Tamilians.
However, no pujas or ceremonies for Rajini Sir's welfare have been conducted in Mumbai—for a reason. Proactive fans, who were vacationing in their native villages, have taken adetour to Chennai where their idol has been hospitalized. They are keeping vigil outside the Sri Ramachandra medical centre and attending prayers.
