No hurdles for RANA

 

The Superstar may be taking rest in hospital. But there is no stopping for K S Ravikumar, the director of ‘Rana’, for the filmmaker is busy zeroing in on locations and finalising the remaining members of the cast and crew.

“The project is very much on track. Our plan is to start the regular shooting only in July. So Rajini’s hospitalisation has not stopped the shaping up of Rana in any way,” Ravikumar says. The director, who had earlier worked with the Superstar for ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padaiyappa’, adds: “I was recently in Thailand to select locations. I will be soon leaving for London for the same purpose.”

Meanwhile, sources say that the Superstar is taking complete rest at a suit in the seventh floor of the hospital, with his family members being with him. “He wants to spend his time by watching comedy channels,” they add.

Rajini charms patients in Hospital!!

 Ailment just couldn’t stop Superstar Rajinikanth, who is at his active best always. Even as his health showing fast improvement, the top actor has been busy doing rounds the hospital where he was admitted to, visiting fellow patients and interacting with them.

“Rajini is full of energy. He has been making it a point to visit other patients regularly and to chat with them. Those in the hospital were stunned with the Superstar’s super act,” said sources.

“Doctors recently removed phlegm from his chest. He will be discharged soon,” they said, adding: “The hospital is flooded with calls ever since Rajini was admitted here. The phone is ringing non-stop.”

Meanwhile, fans of Rajini offered prayers at various temples in and around Tiruchi on Sunday, invoking the blessings of the Almighty for speedy recovery of the actor. Fans said that they would continue to offer special prayers across the State till the matinee idol returns home from hospital.

Rajinikanth’s new look for Rana

Rajinikanth, who has been experimenting with his looks for every film will now be seen in a very new look in his upcoming film Rana. Its is already known that this is a semi period film and Rajini is playing triple roles in it.

Superstar is planning for various getups for roles. Foreign stylists would work on Rajinikanth getups in Rana. Deepika Padukone and Anushka are playing the female leads in this movie.

KS Ravi Kumar took this as a challenge as the expectations on this movie would be sky high after Robo (Endhiran) which was a mighty hit. Rana is a high budget film which is being made at an excess of 100 crore rupees.

KSR and Soundarya clarify about Rana!!

At a hurriedly-convened press meet in the Chennai on Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated flick ‘Rana’, the director of the movie K.S. Ravikumar, and the daughter of the Superstar, Soundarya Ashwin, who is also technical director of the film, clarified some of the speculative reports that have been appearing in the media of late.

They made it clear that that the action-packed trilingual has a fresh script and is not a rip-off of ‘Sultan the Warrior’, the earlier animated film of the actor, as assumed by a section of the media.

“The story of this historical film, set in the 17th century, is the brainchild of the Superstar and has nothing to do with ‘Sultan’…That film is totally directed by Soundarya and she has plans to complete it later,” he said.

Rubbishing reports about Bollywood actress Rekha, who is said to have demanded Rs.4 crore to play opposite Rajini and that KSR could not cast her, he said, “The rumours are baseless. I have never spoken to Rekha or for that matter Hema Malini for ‘Rana’. As of now, only Deepika Padukone has been signed.”

However, the ‘Muthu’ director agreed that since ‘Rana’ is a very big film and Rajini is playing a triple role, they have to speak to many other stars. “We are still talking to Vidya Balan, but nothing is finalised. Talks with Ileana too have been initiated. But the problem at the moment is that Rajini sir and I are fine-tuning the script even now. When it reaches its final shape, if any of these characters are reduced to minuscule figures, then we cannot justify casting big actresses like Vidya Balan.”

He also did not rule out the possibility of big actors who will share screen space with Rajinikanth. On punch lines for Rajini he said, “My films are always filled with contemporary dialogues. Rana is no different.”

The movie, produced by Eros International, has A.R. Rahman composing the music and Ratnavel behind the camera and shooting is likely to commence around the last week of April.

Vidya Balan Signed for Rana?

Enthiran created history across the nation, and our Superstar has already signed his next project Rana, to be directed by K.S Ravikumar. Rana, a trilingual to be made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, has Rajni playing a triple role (youth, middle age and old man). And guess what? Bollywood's current sensation Deepika Padukone will be paired opposite the young Rajni, while yesteryear beauty Rekha may be seen opposite the older character played by Rajnikanth.

The latest buzz is that versatile actress Vidya Balan  has been signed to play the heroine opposite middle aged Rajni in Rana. The shooting of this film is expected to begin in Chennai from April 2011.
