Actor Rajinikanth was admitted at a hospital in Mylapore on Friday, after he complained of breathing problems during the shooting of his new movie 'Rana'.
Speaking to Media, a St. Isabel's hospital spokesperson said the actor had been admitted only due to high BP and nothing else. He had also chosen this hospital because his family doctor Balasubramaniyam visited here and that he would be discharged on Friday night.
Dr C V Krishnaswami, consultant diabetologist of the hospital, said the actor was admitted following dehydration and fatigue, and had been advised a few days' rest.
Meanwhile, the superstar's wife Latha Rajinikanth told media representatives at the hospital that the actor had been suffering from stomach upset for three days and was being treated for it.
Playing down the incident, filmmaker KS Ravikumar, who is directing Rajini in Rana, said the actor had gone to the hospital only to check his health after he suffered from stomach upset on Friday.
"He slept very late on Thursday night after personally inviting all guests for the film's launch on Friday morning. He was shooting after a long time and also the food he ate led to a stomach upset," Ravikumar said.
Sources in the actor's fan club claimed that he had typhoid fever for almost a month now. It may be recalled that the actor had given an interview on election day (April 13) in the state that he was unable to join Anna Hazare's fast in New Delhi because he was unwell.
